Unable to go to work on Monday? Here are possible scenarios

Schools and kindergartens are closed on Monday. These are the new precautionary measures taken Sunday by the federal government.

For parents, it's not easy to organize to go to work, especially that these decisions were taken at the last minute Sunday night.

As explained by the CSC on its site, parents who make the decision not to go to work to care for children, can invoke "compelling reasons". This leave is sometimes designated by the term MIOF (compelling reason for family reasons) and can be requested supervisor. There will be no entitlement to compensation.

Also possible, also to avoid too long trips or fear of the threat, workers may take leave in accordance with the legislation on annual holidays and with the agreement of their employer.

Understanding of employers

On the corporate side, anyway, we want understanding ". Clearly, we are in the unique Anyway, one week ago, nobody could imagine would come to this," he told us Willocx Olivier, CEO of BECI, the Brussels Federation of bosses.

"It certainly will not make watchword. I think we are in the 'hot'. I think it is difficult. I think that an employer is not the other. A person not the other. I think end up with children at home, do not necessarily know that will keep ... It is in the new. It is not in the appreciation of everyone including the employer, but the employee, to know how they live or how they wish to live those moments that are certainly not easy, "he added.

And if the subway does not run?

Finally, for workers who can not get to work because of the closing of the means of transport, the right to remuneration is maintained.

But beware, it has to be a cause independent of his will, therefore, as provided by Article 27 of the Law on the employment contract, and no other way to get to work is available. This does not seem the case with the Brussels metro stop: trams and buses run some prémétros are replaced with shuttle buses.

To invoke this case would therefore require that all transport is stopped, and this is announced daily, with no way to predict plan B.
